BACKGROUND

Nelson Roller & Rubber Co. Ltd was established in 1902, servicing the rollers of multitude of textile factories around Huddersfield and West Yorkshire area.
In the early years, the rollers were covered with leather, moving on to cork filled rubber and then engineered rubber compounds, the company was more of a cobbler, compared to what it has evolved into today.

In 1965, Edwin Cusworth purchased the company from Robert Nelson, (hence the name), after his wife Marjorie Cusworth saw the advertisement in the local paper and so started the Cusworth ownership line. His son Martyn Cusworth taking over in 1986. In doing so, he brought together Nelson Roller and Rubber with Colne Valley Polymers. With a wealth of knowledge gained from manufacturing rubber compound, Nelson Roller and Rubber was able to offer a rare complete bespoke rubber compound servicing service to a whole range of industries.

In 2005, Martyn’s son Julian Cusworth took his place as managing director of Nelson Roller and Rubber Co Ltd.
